Kentucky Thespian Society Anti-Discrimination Policy

Purpose

The Kentucky Thespian Society is committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and equitable environment for all students, educators, volunteers, and participants involved in our events, programs, and activities. As an affiliate of the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), we uphold values that champion diversity, accessibility, and the dignity of every individual.

Policy Statement

The Kentucky Thespian Society strictly prohibits discrimination or harassment of any kind based on, but not limited to:

  • Race or ethnicity

  • Color

  • National origin

  • Gender, gender identity, or gender expression

  • Sexual orientation

  • Age

  • Religion or spiritual belief

  • Disability (physical, sensory, cognitive, or mental health-related)

  • Socioeconomic status

  • Marital or family status

  • Military or veteran status

This policy applies to all Kentucky Thespian Society sponsored events and activities, including festivals, workshops, leadership training, adjudications, and online programming.

Our Commitment

Reporting and Resolution

Anyone who experiences or observes discrimination, harassment, or any behavior inconsistent with this policy is encouraged to report it to a Kentucky Thespian Society adult staff member, chapter director, or through a designated confidential reporting channel. All reports will be handled with discretion and care, and retaliation of any kind will not be tolerated.

Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as needed to align with best practices in educational theatre, student safety, and equity and inclusion.
